Breakfast

During our hike, I asked Gina about breakfast. I've done

The Prince of Comfort: Stroganoff

In an effort to eat healthy, but quench the tyrannical thirst of the pregnant woman's craving, we made Veggie Stroganoff, using portobello mushrooms. Do not be fooled, it was not vegan. We used sour cream and butter.

A Hike

Day 15

Exercise is important, especially during a pregnancy. Today, Gina and I went on a hike. There are so many great places to hike in the East Bay. We found a not so challenging trail, high on a hill, overlooking the cities of Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco (and the Bay between). It was beautiful. We were also able to take our little dogs, Jack and Lucy. Gina and I have a couple of hiking books. Our materials allow us to find hikes that are adequate in relation to our skill level. Today we used a book which outlines hikes for people and their dogs.

The trail was located on a volcanic formation formed 10 million years ago. How cool is that? The formation must have wanted a sweet touch because there were eucalyptus trees everywhere. The aromatherapy they provided filled the air with a sweet calm.

Gina and I talked about the baby, or better stated, we wondered about the baby.
We don't know what to expect so there is a lot of guessing, and its fun. Being new parents is a big experiment. It is our big bang. On the trail, we observed very pregnant moms, dads, kids, babies, families, and doggies. At one point I saw a Dad with a baby elevated behind and above his head. I realized that it wasn't a magic levitating baby trick, but a dad with a backpack containing a baby seat. Awesome. I can't wait to get one of those.

This exercise is low impact, but the length and hilly inclines make for a great workout. Hiking is a form of exercise we'll be able to do for a large portion of our pregnancy.

Important! Be sure to bring plenty of water during the hike. Pregnant moms (and everyone else) need to stay hydrated.
