Hamburger Alley

I once said to my wife, "When we find out we're pregnant we're going to go and get a celebration hamburger."

Today, on our way back from visiting friends in Sacramento, my wife said, "Baby, I feel like having a burger and fries."  This is a bit strange because my wife, Gina, does not go for fast food very often.  I asked if she was sure, she stated she was sure.   She claimed there was a stretch along I-80 her family dubbed "hamburger alley".   They would visit hamburger alley on the many trips they took to and from Lake Berryessa, near Napa Valley.

We passed a highway sign advertising about a million different types of fast food.  Gina realized we were, at that fated moment, in hamburger alley.  Pass it up, and we miss it, choose the exit and you enter the red light district of food.  We ordered our burgers and ate them in record time.

When we arrived at home Gina decided to take a pregnancy test. Among the burger mania, other signs of pregnancy were apparent: lots of sleep, lots of hunger, quick tempered, slightly bloated. Gina also had these symptoms.

She passed the test; it was positive!

We had our celebration hamburger one hour before we realized we were pregnant.
It was awesome.

The purpose of this blog is to share our excitement, concerns, and happenings as we navigate through the next eight and a half months. As we blog about our growing baby we will also include meals, snacks, and all cravings in between which cater to the food needs of a healthy pregnancy (even though we started with a cheeseburger).

Enjoy with us...
