Salty Popcorn

This evening Gina and I went to see the movie, "Salt". Earlier, we went for a walk, with our little doggies, Jack and Lucy. Walking has become a great way for Gina to get exercise. Its also helping her feet. Last night she claimed that her feet were a little bit "tingly". During the walk we both needed an air conditioned environment. I guess we're going through some kind of hot spell out here in Oakland.

Chorizo + Soy = What?

My breast friend

Today, Gina and I went to the maternity store for the second time. The first time was extremely overwhelming...for both of us. I really didn't know what I was looking at. Each pair of pants had either an elastic band, or a large piece of material that is supposed to cover the popped baby belly. If my cravings continue I will also have to buy a pair. The capris look nice, and due to their short nature they won't be tight on my calves.

We needed a mission, or purpose, so we wouldn't be overwhelmed again. This time we had one: maternity bra. Gina's bras are getting tight and uncomfortable. There were so many bras to choose from. Gina had been given the advice to purchase one that was a cup size larger than her usual size. To make it a more efficient outing the sales associate measured her. Following the measurement Gina's mouth was agape and I was really excited. Apparently, my awesome wife was TWO cup sizes larger than normal. A D cup! She tried it on, and sure enough it fit.

As we were checking out the sales associate recommended body butter for the boobies. She said she uses it every night and went in to detail about where she puts it. Gina started talking about the booby body butter, too. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world and wanted them to keep talking about it. I pretended like I was invisible. I stood in one position, near Gina, hands at my side, not blinking, without moving. I guess it worked because the conversation continued for like 5 more minutes. It was glorious.

I guess pregnant women like talking about mom boobs no matter who's in the audience. I champion this banter as it is completely fine with me.

Mission accomplished, maternity bra...check!

Being Tired

As Gina's body and mind work super double overtime, 24/7, she is often tired. All of our research recommends sleeping as much as one can, to include naps. Gina is averaging between 8-9 hours of sleep a night. She tries to nap, but there have been days when a nap will prevent her from being adequately tired at night, making it hard to fall asleep. She works, too, so she can't always take a nap.

This is a tough one. How do we fix it? As a guy, its my duty, right? I don't think I can fix this one.

Several days ago, Gina stated that she would like more candles and comfortable smells around the house. Ohhhhh, she wants to be comfortable! I get it! This does not include me coming home from the gym, in a heightened state of sweat, and bear hugging her. I tried it, she humored me, then lovingly, "baby, please go rinse off."

Providing a comfortable environment for her to relax is the only real "fix" to the tired issue. A clean house, nice candles, fresh smells like lavender or flowers, me showering, incense (be cautious of the incense as it can be overpowering), etc, help her to relax.

Patterns

Patterns

Gina has noticed two patterns, thus far. One, she is much more tired than usual. And two, her food desires vary from day to day. As mentioned previously, Gina enjoys Thai food. She spent three months in Thailand, and returning home she brought back a love of their food. Yesterday, I recommended we eat Thai. As I finished my sentence I watched as she almost vomited in her mouth. It was the opposite of awesome. When I recommended Ethiopian food (we had it a few days prior, she was craving it) she gave me the head shake.

We were stumped. What to eat? We settled on Anglo-American food, which hit the spot: Anglo fish and chips (low mercury fish, of course), and American chicken sandwiches. As we finished our meal we sat back and did the Thanksgiving tummy pat, and memorialized our poor stuffed bellies:

“Oh man, my stomach. I’m so full.”

“Me too, I can’t believe we ate all of that.”

“Finish my fries.”

“I can’t, can’t do it, I’m so full”

-Server, “Would you guys like dessert?”

“Yes, an apple crisp please.”

I would be lying if I said I didn’t love this.
